Club member Paul Bergman is in the process of building his home layout. Chapter members were treated to an early peak at his handiwork at our recent monthly meeting. Bench work is in and his Marklin C-Track is positioned in rough form so that he can confirm elevations and turn radii. Although the risers are temporary, Paul has carefully engineered the grades. His layout is intended to be Scandinavian by design and much of his rolling stock is true-to-form. Paul has built his bench work at a comfortable height and included under-deck lighting for ease of future maintenance. If you are a member of ETE, you can read more about Paul’s clever lighting scheme in the ETE Express, Issue Number 129 – First Quarter 2011.

Paul has included a turntable on his layout and is working on a device that uses a tortoise motor to open the shed doors at prototypical speeds. He will be writing another article for the ETE EXPRESS in the future to describe just how he accomplished this. It will undoubtedly make for a real eye-catcher on his layout!

A Euro-Cargo consist made up of specialized tanker cars awaits a test run on the layout. We look forward to seeing more of Paul’s layout as he makes progress in completing other areas. Stay tuned right here for updates!
